The Beginning The History of Kawan Lama began in 1955 when it was founded by the late Mr. Wong Jin (†) in a simple tool shop in Glodok Area, Jakarta. This family business evolved into a company under the name of PT KAWAN LAMA SEJAHTERA which has a network of world-class factories. The Rapid Expansion Era When the domestic industries bloomed in the decade of 1980s, Kawan Lama had been participating as a trusted business partner which provided almost all industrial needs for tools, machinery, and industrial equipment. The establishment of WE FOCUS 2000 vision in the next decade strengthened the pace of the company to be the leader in its class. To meet the needs of the customers which continue to increase and to be more specific, Kawan Lama established a number of sister companies under the management of Kawan Lama Group. The best management oriented at the customer satisfaction is the main pattern applied progressively in Kawan Lama. This is proved with the grant of ISO 9002 certification in 1996. Sharpening the Company Vision Being committed to a vision that is strong and proactive to change, Kawan Lama occupies a new nine-floored building furnished with a 2,500 square-meters showroom. Despite the inevitable multidimensional crisis storming Indonesia in the 1997-1998 periods, Kawan Lama was still active making innovations by producing Krisbow brand, the right product at the right price, just for our customers. Realizing the more competitive market challenge in the global era, Kawan Lama developed a new WORLD-CLASS COMPANY vision in 2005. This dynamics is followed by the improvement of service quality to the customers, fulfilled by upgrading the ISO 9002 to ISO 9001:2000. Building Various Convenience for the Customers Dedication to the customers’ convenience and satisfaction has always been the commitment of Kawan Lama, the commitment of which was applied by establishing a 5-hectare Distribution Center in Cikupa, Tangerang in 2006. By more closely servicing the customers, the company has established a number of branch offices in major industrial cities and keeps exploring the potentials of other regions throughout Indonesia.
